OpsMgr: EMC ESI support for Microsoft System Center

One of our biggest problem areas over the last couple of years has been our storage environments, especially in terms of visibility. The storage team always had visibility of the environments with the native tools supplied by the various vendors, but to get the visibility to the rest of the environment has proven to be … Continue reading OpsMgr: EMC ESI support for Microsoft System Center

OpsMgr: Running 2007 and 2012 consoles at the same time

So… when you have the Opsmgr 2007 console installed – on your laptop, for example – and you try to install the OpsMgr 2012 console, the installation performs an upgrade of the 2007 components (as expected, really). And this is all great and everything if you have upgraded your OpsMgr environment(s) to 2012. But the … Continue reading OpsMgr: Running 2007 and 2012 consoles at the same time

OpsMgr 2007: More on dynamic groups and health watchers

Earlier this year, I blogged about creating dynamic computer groups and then adding the agent health watcher component dynamically with a bit of code magic. Many things have changed in my OpsMgr environment since then, including my OpsMgr support team, and we have recently had to add a couple of new groups to accomodate some … Continue reading OpsMgr 2007: More on dynamic groups and health watchers

OpsMgr 2007: Hotfix KB2585542 may cause problems with Unix discoveries

I am a big fan of dynamic things that reduce work and, more importantly, human error, and when it comes to grouping devices in OpsMgr I am all for dynamic groupings. The only problem is that, no matter what you do, you cannot include the Windows Computer component and the Health Watcher dynamically in the … Continue reading OpsMgr 2007: Dynamic groups and health watchers

OpsMgr 2007 R2–A funny thing happened on the way to happiness

So, a funny thing happened on one of my customers. Funny in the sense that one would expect this behaviour if you sit down and think about it. But really, who has time to think, right? You see, we use ConfigMgr (SCCM) as a standard to deploy OpsMgr agents automatically. This typically ensures that every … Continue reading OpsMgr 2007 R2–A funny thing happened on the way to happiness
